Hello, we are here as a family in Leiden, for my husband is doing clinical trials at LUMC. We are looking for administrative support from someone who speaks and writes excellent english, is technologically savvy, (can program Apple phones, Computers etc.) and can follow up with tasks necessary to support our work. Knowledge of medical terms is a plus, as is the ability to create presentations and graphs. (a graduate student in the sciences?) Send your CV to my e-mail above- about 10 hours a week, just for the school year.

Hello.

I have just accepted a new position in Leiden (almost across the street from your offices).

We are a family of four (children are 9 months and 2.5 years).

Once I get there, I will come to your offices to ask for guidance on the items such as health insurance, registering, bank accounts, etc.

However, there is a more pressing need now:

From mid Feb to early Mar, I will need a single room somewhere to sleep while I start the job.

From early Mar, I need to have found suitable accomodation for our family. We had considered a 3 bedroom, but with Isabelle being so small, a 2 bedroom that includes some extra space in it will do for the first year or so.

In addition, when Bríd comes over with the children, we need to find some childcare. We understand the long waiting lists for creches, etc. However, to give her some time to get us settled in and to give Fionn (2.5) some stimulation and friends, we are hoping to even find a playgroup for 3-4 hours a few days a week as a start.

Any suggestions on the above will be very helpful.

Kind Regards,
David Ennis

Hi I am Rachelle, from South Africa, been living and working in Leiden for a few years. One way that has helped me to integrate was to follow some group lessons of something that I enjoy, like dancing, moving on music with others. I have found that Nia (this I teach in Leiden) has done much for me and others to open up and have laugh together while getting fit at the same time! "

Nia combines different movement forms from dance to martial arts and healing arts, like yoga. It is a lifestyle practise, the focus is not only on becoming fit, it is a by product. In a recent article in the magazine Happinez (June 2010) it was described as a "spiritual workout', well, I would say, come and see for yourself. I would like to invite you to participate in one of my Nia summer Saturdays: 31 July & 7 August 11-12.15... (you can bring a friend for free! )

See www.niania.nl/Summer.html Or courses at the LAKTheater / Leidse Volkshuis starting September
I teach in English / Dutch / Afrikaans sometimes ". You can find more on my website www.niania.nl Would love to dance with you! No dance experience required,

until soon! Rachelle

Hi Esther,

My son is 7 and speaks both English and Dutch. I'm American and my husband is Dutch. My son has grown up here, though we've spent a fair amount of time in America. Anyway, he'll be out for school holidays in July and for part of August. We'll be away for two weeks, but will be around for the rest of the holidays. He loves playing with other kids and is generally pretty sweet (if I do say so myself! )

You can email me at [email protected] if you'd like to arrange for the boys to get together.

And your English is fine!!

Hi
I'm Esther, I'm 28, dutch and live near leiden, I'm happily married to a dutch man,
who lived in Canada for serveral years and got a son there.
now I'm the stepmom of this 8 year old fantastic little boy.

Every year from July till the end of august he spends his summer with us.
he's an amazing, smart, sweet and nice boy and I love him very much!
Of course we do loads of fun things with him, but he really misses kids, his age to play with, who understand his language
(englisch)

And then I found this website.
Hopefully there are nice people out here who would like to meet up.
We're looking forward to it

(and sorry for my bad englisch, I'm working on it )

Lusa
Hello,
I'm Lusa, mother of 2 girls, 8 and 6 years old. We just arrived this summer in Leiden. I'm looking for a kind of English after school activity/class to maintain (and develop) their English knowledge, as they are both Dutch, though fluent in English. They went to International (pre) schools for the past 4 years. Does someone know if there are any kind of English after school activities appropriate for their age in Leiden?? Thanks in advance for your reply.
